Lautoka Football Association celebrates Courts IDC victory

Lautoka was painted blue as people from all walks of life came together to celebrate the Sugar City’s football achievements of 2017 which was topped up by their recent victory in the Inter District Championship (IDC) on home soil.

Float Procession & Celebration For Lautoka Blues

The celebrations started with a float procession at 1pm and hundreds of fans joined the team players and officials in the parade which ended at Churchill Park’s ground two where members of the public were given the chance to meet and greet the players. And later in the evening the IDC, Vodafone Premier League and Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion winners were hosted to a private function where the players and their families were honoured by the team officials and sponsors. Apart from the big payout from the prize money of the tournament titles, the players received other gifts and vouchers from sponsors and other well-wishers of the team. President Abdul Kadar said it was a humbling experience to see such a big crowd during the celebration and he said the people of Lautoka had every reason to celebrate as the district lifted the Lloyd Farebrother trophy after a while. “I was really touched by all the support thrown towards the team today (yesterday) and I urge the fans to continue supporting the players and officials as this is their team and we are just their representatives who work hard to make the district proud.” He said they have already begun preparations for the 2018 OFC Champions League by launching a fundraising drive for the regional tournament. “We have launched our fundraising drive by releasing the 2018 Lautoka FA calendars and we are selling them for $10 a copy. I am urging all Lautoka fans as well as all football lovers in the country to grab a copy of our calendar and help us in the preparations for the OFC Champions League.” He added that the players will be given a little time off with their families and they will return by mid next week to commence with preparations for the 2017 Pacific Cup which will be played in Auckland from November 22-26.
