Punjas injects $35,000 towards Lautoka FA Local League

LAUTOKA Football Association has secured the backing and sponsorship of Punjas & Sons Limited towards the running of its Local League competition.

The sponsorship, the biggest ever in the history of Local League competition in the country is worth $35,000 for a year.

During the official presentation this afternoon at the Punjas head Office in Lautoka, company director Rajesh Punja said they were happy to partner with Shop N Save Supermarket to support Lautoka FA.

Punja said the company hopes the sponsorship will boost participation, interest in the sport and lift the morale of players, officials and supporters.

“This is another initiative of Punjas that promotes active, healthy lifestyles through sport.

“Football sponsorship is nothing new for us at Punjas; we have supported football during the South Pacific Games in 2003 and the Battle of the Giants tournament between 2003 and 2005.”

Lautoka FA vice president and Local League chairman Rajinesh Naicker acknowledged the contribution by Punjas and said this will enable them to organize the 2015 Local League in a bigger and better way.

He said there will be attractive incentives for players and teams to play for this year.

Moh’d Hanif Saheb, the longest serving member for Press Football Club said this was a milestone achievement for the Blues.

“From my experience this is the first time Lautoka FA has secured a sponsorship of $35,000 under the leadership of Babu Rattan Deo.

“I’ve been involved in soccer from 1970 and this is a great achievement for Lautoka FA . I’m still running Press Soccer Club. The club competition will be more competitive now and teams will be gunning for that attractive prize-money on offer thanks to Punjas,”Saheb, the father of district rep Zibraaz said.

The Punjas Lautoka FA Local League kicks-off on Sunday April 12.
