A former Lautoka resident has thrown his company’s weight behind the sugar city team which will be known as Global Cleaning Lautoka in the Vodafone Fiji FACT 2017 tournament set for May 12-14.
The Sydney based-company’s local directors, Rizwan Dean and Rahul Vijay yesterday handed Lautoka FC president Abdul Kadar $10,000 to cover for the team’s expenses in their build-up to the tournament.
The sponsorship will see Lautoka strive harder to capture their third title, after securing the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants and Pillay’s Garments Champion Versus Champion Series. Kadar said Global Cleaning Group director, Abdul Iliaz Tauheed, who is based in Sydney but a former Razak Road resident of Lautoka had witnessed Lautoka win the CvC title.
“After the tournament, he asked me if I had any issues or need of assistance to let him know and I told him we were looking for a sponsor for the Fiji FACT, to which he agreed.
“I’m extremely happy with Global Cleaning and their being behind Lautoka as it is extremely hard nowadays to get sponsors,” Kadar said.
“It is expensive to prepare a team for any tournament and Lautoka are forever grateful to Mr Tauheed for the sponsorship.”
As for the tournament, Kadar says, Lautoka will take each game as a final and treat all teams with respect.
Dean said their company was fairly new here in Fiji but have established themselves on Denarau Island, visiting yachts and First Landing Resort.
He said they have always been die-hard fans of Lautoka and would continue to support them into the future.
The company also sponsored the Lautoka Muslim College football side last year which saw the school reach the finals of the Fiji Secondary Schools IDC.
